GLORIOUS! Sunshine and sparking snow met me as I went walking on the Columbia Plateau Trail off the Cheney/Spangle trail head. There were very few people out and about today so I pretty much had it to myself. The waterfalls were under sheets of ice cycles, you could hear the water running but barely see it. The streams along both sides of the trail were high and running right along.
Enjoying the paths, trails, roads and by-ways of the Inland Northwest by foot. Sharing where I've been through pictures and text so you can explore them yourself walking, jogging, bicycling or under whatever foot powered means you enjoy.

Antoine Peak Natural Area winter fun!
Went walkin in the Antoine Peak Natural area in north Spokane off of the Brevier Road Trail Head. The trail loop is called the "Emerald Necklace". Didn't get a bunch of shots because it was snowing pretty hard. mush of the trail was icy, watch your footing. Met a trio of intrepid bicyclists headed up the trail. In the parking lot I ran into a nice group with 2 wonderful pups that happily played Frisbee
with me.

A Sunday walk in Riverfront Park
Went walkin in Riverfront Park Sunday and was greeted by a lot of activity. People walkin, a lot with their 4 footed babies, people ice skating and just enjoying the mild weather. Canadian Geese and ducks were abundant. A few snowflake flew but it was a really nice day. Ran into Jake, the little black dog, and his dad walking down the street and just had to catch a few shots.

Feryn Conservation area Mead, Washington
Went walkin at the Feryn Conservation area in Mead and got soaked to my knees. It is a beautiful area nestled among the fields on Peone Prairie. The vast majority of the property is a wetland with some open water and a lot of streams. I decided that I was gonna make it all the way around and in order to do that had to slog through some water. It was worth it and feet dry. Today there were mostly Mallard ducks and a few hawks flying over. I would image during other times of the year there is many other birds taking advantage of this pretty area. The barn is one of the focal points of the property and left over from when it was a farm.

Post Falls, Idaho Black Bay Park & Falls Park
Spent the day in Post Falls, Idaho exploring a couple of their wonderful hiking area parks. I have visited Falls Park many times but had never been to Black Bay Park. Falls park never disappoints. Feel the power of the water as it goes over the dam on the Spokane River. The trail takes you close enough to feel the mist. This park has a couple of ponds and a back wash from the river so is populated by all sorts of ducks and geese. The Mallard duck population is huge and vocal. The trail loops around and through the park along the river. Black Bay park has a paved park, that was a road at one time. You can't drive in but must walk from where they have the old road blacked. The paths go along the edge of the river and then through the woods. Houses are on each side of the property. Challenging paths with a lot of up and down and over the rocks. Neither hike is officially very long but you can get some miles in by exploring all the off shoot paths.
