I was so excited to stumble on a family of Otters that had taken up residence in the stream along the side of the Columbia Plateau trail. In all the years I have walked the trail I have never seen Otters in that stream. There were 4 babies and a mom. I had never given much thought to what noise an otter would make but the mom kept growling and they made a sharp kind of snort when they came up and saw me still there. The tumbled and played in the water, coming up to see if I was still there. I followed them down the stream, then they turned back up. At one point they got concerned and all got out along the far bank and looked over to what was bothering them. There is a hawk in the area so it might have been that.
Enjoying the paths, trails, roads and by-ways of the Inland Northwest by foot. Sharing where I've been through pictures and text so you can explore them yourself walking, jogging, bicycling or under whatever foot powered means you enjoy.

A day at the beach, Ocean Shores, Washington
Took a trip over to the coast and visited the beach at Ocean Shores, Washington. This is over in the Aberdean area. This wonderful public beach allows you to drive right down onto the beach and park. 4 footed kids are welcome and ther were a lot of them frolicking, visiting and just having an all around good time. There are all sorts of things to do, walk or run , you can get alot of mileage in as the beach is long, ride horses, swim, fish, ride atv's, bicycle, build a sand castle, fly a kite. Truly something for everyone.

Dishman Conservation Area, Iller Creek Trail head
Wonderful time of year for this deep in the forest hike. The Iller Creek trailhead is reached by going into the Ponderosa Neighborhood and following Holman road until the end of it. This area is alot of up and down, around the side of the mountain. Wonderfully cool in the morning. There are a number of trails in varying degree's of difficulty and length. Hikers and Mountain Bikers alike really enjoy this area of trails.

Centennial Trail The Islands Trail head PJ & Hoops
Walked the north side of the river on Upriver from the parking lot at "The Islands" trail head to Plantes Ferry Park to Trent Road and then back down the Centennial Trail to the The Islands Beach, across Denny Ashcroft bridge back to the lot. Came across PJ and Hoops playing in the water with their dad. Frisbee and ball are fun when you get wet chasing them. A man was fly fishing from the rocks and a bunch of folks were walkin the trail enjoying the cooler weather. Really a neat area right off the trail if you haven't explored it you should.
