James T Slavin Conservation area

One of the prettiest areas to hike, it is located in South Spokane county off of 195 and Paradise rd on Keeney Rd. Gorgeous lakes, flowers, lots of birds and other critters. It is a favorite for people to walk their dogs and ride horses. One thing to be aware of is the tick population is very high this year so be prepared to be picking the nasty little critters off of you and your dogs when you go. The hay field in the last picture is from a field near the conservation area.

Columbia Plateau Trail Fish Lake

Beautiful early morning walk down the Columbia Plateau Trail off the Fish Lake trail head. The streams along the trail are back to normal now, not flooding the trail. The birds were very busy and added a wonderful soundtrack to the walk. A Goldfinch posed while getting a drink from the stream. The little birds were harassing a hawk that I'm sure was trying to eat them.

Spokane Hoopfest 2019

Went downtown to see the Hoopfest activities today. People, people, people! Playing ball, watching, eating and just enjoying being out in the good weather and wonderful spirit of the event. Ran into the Spokane Animal Liberation group, a group dedicated to animal rights. Vendors and other groups were also out and about.

9 Mile Recreation Trail head & Spokane Bike Club

Went down to the 9 mile Recreation Trailhead off of Charles Road and walked the section of the Centennial trail out of there. Nice area with a boat launch, camping and picnic area and boat rental. Even a little store. The Spokane Bile Club came down the trail while I was there. Saw a momma duck and her nine babies and a Killdeer sitting on a nest in the rocks right next to the bathroom.
