Fish Lake Trail, Mile post 2-3 10/23

Only time for a super shot jaunt but couldn't not go on a day like today. Fishlake trail runs along and crosses the old Marshall Road for the first few miles so can be accessed in a number of places off of it. Went in on the north crossover, which is just a tiny bit south of milepost 2, went south to milepost 3 and then back and across to milepost 2. This area is super nice for wildlife sightings. Quite a few bikers on the trail today.

FSLRV Trail, N. Spokane 10/22

FSLRV Trail runs along the North/south corridor, between 395 & Hwy 2. I got on the trail off of Pittsburg and Garden Road, which is North of Farwell, past Northwood Middle School.  This is mostly a utilitarian trail, not alot of fun things to see, mostly just a wall, although as you come into the 395 end you can see some scenery. I will have to go the rest of the way east on it when I have the time. I went west then up to Farwell and then back up Pittsburg. Around 2-2 1/2Miles roundtrip.

Ben Burr Trail, E. Central Spokane 10/19

This is a little known, short trail located in the heart of the east central Area of Spokane. It runs between Underhill Park and Liberty Park. Extensive work is being done on the west end that will extend the trail out of Liberty Park and connect it will the Centennial Trail, this is under construction now. As it stands now it is short, about 1 mile start to finish now, so about 2 miles round trip. You can access the trail from the south end of Liberty Park or from the south parking lot of Underhill. Underhill is located at 2910 E Hartson, off Thor/Freya. Liberty Park is 502 S Pittsburg, off of E 3rd. Thistrail has recently been paved and is well maintained. It goes along an old railroad line so sits up against the hill. Pretty scenic views to the north. The access out of underhill park is straight up a steep hill but most of the path has very slight incline. The wonderful old stone steps seen in the photo are at the western most end of the path in Liberty Park. Nice quick jaunt!

Columbia Plateau Trail Cheney-Plaza Trailhead Turnbull 10/18

Super nice day for a walk! Got a little wet but not cold at all. Went in at the bridge off of Cheney-Plaza Road. This takes you right to the gate into Turnbull National Wildlife refuge. Going west you pass open ponds and wetland and and then come into an area that you are between rocks. It then opens back up to aspen groves and just as you're coming into the mile 257 marker a really big body of water. Cattails, ducks, geese and other water fowl abound. Just one other intrepid traveler was seen on the trail today. This stretch is only about 1 1/2 miles or so, to the 357 marker from the trailhead. When going west the mileage numbers go backwards as the numbering starts from the west end of the trail. The trail is straight and mostly flat but crushed gravel, it is not paved.

A few more pics from Spokane-Gonzaga

So many pretty shots from the day, here are a few more.

Centennial Trail Gonzaga to Downtown Spokane 10/17

Another beautiful fall day brought hordes of walkers and bicyclers out today to enjoy the sun. The colors haven't fully come out yet, some tree's are red, yellow and orange but quite a few still to turn. There were ducks and some other interesting birds on the river that nicely stood still to have their pictures taken. I like to park along the street over near the WSU campus and go down onto to the trail that way, parking is free for an hour. I take the trail through Riverfront Park over the Howard bridge and then back down the river on the path past the lower part of Gonzaga over the bridge and back. Its a short loop, probably about 2-2 1/2 miles in total but sooooo pretty!

Centennial Trail Sullivan to Barker 10/16

Another beautiful fall day! Sunshine and even got to warm pluggin along when the wind was't blowin. The river is chattering away over the rocks, trees are starting to turn and the folks were out again enjoying it. The path runs right along the river all the way along this section. I always expect to see Bigfoot( Sasquatch) across the river on the other bank as the rocks and trees over there remind me of that famous old photo that a hiker took years ago. Haven't seen him yet but when I do I will certainly share a picture! This section is almost 3 miles in length, so almost 6 roundtrip. Nice easy enjoyable goin for all.

Burn Works fire spinning

I had read about the Burn Works crew in an article and just had to see them in action myself.
