This challenging loop starts at the Iller Creek trailhead and then runs along the top of the mountain to the east on the return. This trail can be very steep and windy. A lot of up,up,up and of course the down. This trail is best done in late spring into late fall. You will not want to try to navigate it if there's ice, snow or mud. It gets very thick mud if its been raining or during the winter thaw and is near impassible, in fact they mark it as closed if the mud is to bad. I've done this in the ice and snow and it is really not a good idea. its namesake creek dries up during the summer months.
Enjoying the paths, trails, roads and by-ways of the Inland Northwest by foot. Sharing where I've been through pictures and text so you can explore them yourself walking, jogging, bicycling or under whatever foot powered means you enjoy.

Centennial Tail Riverfront Park Gonzaga loop
Went walkin on the Centennial trail through Riverfront Park, across the Howard bridge and then back down the other side of the river past Gonzaga and back. This is a nice easy route but with a lot of chances for viewing beautiful scenery, a cool off in the Rotary Fountain and of course bunches of interesting people watchin. So many people with their 2 legged and 4 legged children out enjoying the sun shine and heat, and boy is there heat! Make sure all of you have enough liquid to stay hydrated while enjoying the sites and sounds of summer.

Fish lake summer fun!
Stopped in at Fish Lake to take a walk-a-bout and enjoy all the folks cooling off. People were swimming, kayaking, floating, fishing from the dock and sunning themselves on the beach. A father son duo were continuing the age old tradition of launching themselves from the rope swing into the cooling waters. Truly a place the entire family can enjoy!

Pelicans in the Spokesman Review and exotic animal farm camel and draft horse
The photo of the Pelicans appeared in the Spokesman Review Outdoor section today. The group of Pelicans, over 30 now, started appearing in the Marshall Wetlands off of Cheney-Spokane road a couple of weeks ago and as the temperature climbed their numbers increased. Funny, they mostly cluster in a large group which you wouldn't think would help with keeping them cool. The camel and HUGE draft horse are the only animals left at the exotic animal farm in south Spokane. The owner died and the majority of the animals have been sold. These 2 are enjoying a large pasture. I think the camel has dreamed of the open road life of a truck driver as he really was interested in the big trucks parked there.
Burn Works fire spinning
I had read about the Burn Works crew in an article and just had to see them in action myself.
